Notorious

Notorious was not a very good film by Hitchcock. When i think of Alfred Hitchcock
I see him as a director that produces scary, and thriller movies not a spy movie. Hitchcock's sad attempt to create such an average spy movie was very upsetting. I have seen many spy movies but it was very similar to almost every spy movie. Hitchcock's is better then a simple spy movie, he created very good movies but this movie is his worst one. The acting, and the plot was terrible. The main actress started to get annoying by the first scene, and the love story that Hitchcock attempted to produce between the two spies was an epic fail.
However, I did like the camera work during the party how the camera started from the view of the staircase into zooming in the key in her hand. Also how her "husband" and her mother-in-law started to poison her and then as she is slowly dying then she sees her husband and the mother-in-law slowly fading away. Then once she is about to pass out you see the whole living room and then you just see her fall to the ground.
Overall Notorious was a very interesting movie but Hitchcock could have done much better in the movie. In today's era almost every movie is a spy movie, and when a teenager sees a spy movie from the 40s she is not shocked by it. I love all of Hitchcock's scary movies but I expect more from Hitchcock then another spy movie.

  1. I like your thoughts about the camera work. The funny thing is that, until Psycho, Hitchcock had more of a reputation for spy movies than for horror!
