Mob Movies

The three gangster films were very unique in there own way. In the Bronx Tale the Italian gang was very small and was only known in there neighborhood. But the Godfather and Goodfellas the gangs were universal and everybody knew about them. Everybody came to the "Godfather" for favors such as to kill someone or threaten them in some weird way. In Goodfellas the gang was popular but nobody respected them as much as the Godfather. Another difference was the way the gangs made money. In Goodfellas they used drugs and weapons but in the Godfather they refused to use drugs but used weapons and other things to make money in there "business". In The Bronx Tale you don't really see how the gang made money, except when they were gambling with horses, or playing poker.
Beetween the three movies the major diffrence is that Goodfellas is a true story. The Godfather and Bronx Tale is Hollywoods own version of the Italian mafia. In Goodfellas there is more violence, and more drugs. The audience also sees how everybody in the mafia gets shot or ends up in prison or in Henrys case get saved and put into the witness protection program. Goodfellas has more reality in the movie even though it may look like its not a true story.
The streotyping in this movie was very origanial when it comes to gangsters and itailian mafias

  1. Ester,

You needed to add more about the streotyping in the movies. You didn't comment on the fact that "Goodfellas" was based on a true story?
